Wood Flooring and the Environment - PEFC certification
Since several years, Emois et Bois favour sustainable management wooden floor in order to preserve as well the forest richness. In Europe the forest plant has not always been organized in the primary concern of bio diversity. If our forests, (with the exception of some forests of Eastern Europe) no longer have to suffer from deforestation, it is unfortunately not the case with tropical forests.

Preferably trees from forest benefiting from the "sustainable management".
Emois et Bois wants to join this action using certified organic products. Imports from China are changing the situation: China has become a major player in the global production of wooden floor. Since the dollar is weakening, it flooded the European markets on which it fell. In order to remain competitive prices for customers who want more attractive prices. We do not want to participate in the wild deforestation, we try our best to offer to our customers floors manufactured with certified organic products. - The wood-producing countries Indonesia, Latin America, Africa, South-East Asia, etc. .. export a significant part of their resources. However, in recent years there has been considerable development of their production tools that allow them to export finished products. - It is completely different with China whose resource oak is low in relation to production, which is very important. China imports massive quantities of oak among producing countries. The proximity of Siberia in fact a privileged origin but also from Eastern Europe (Romania, Bulgaria, etc. ..), North America. In 2007, the purchase of wood by the Chinese on the french market has led to increasing 3O% of the market price of wood on foot and an increase of over 10% of the price of floors among European industrialists. At the same time, China is flooding Europe 's floors at particularly low prices. China is a very large country, the quality of production tools, is uneven, some have very powerful equipment, often from German origin. In other areas, the Chinese have proved that they were able to reach a very high technological level, but in the industry department, they will still face a long time for the scarcity of the resource. These supply difficulties lead the Chinese to meet demand, to mix in their production of oak trees of various origins. The result is a wide disparity in appearance and uneven quality of finished products. The large retailers as some distributors, who present themselves as "soldeurs" in fact limited in their supplies to Europe, importing heavily from China and offer, without indicating clearly the source, wooden floor often from poor quality, very low prices. The consumer is without benchmarks. It is difficult as a distributor of knowing, regarding floors imported from China, the origin of wood and whether they are certified organic (PEFC) or not. There we have not longer possible to trust some fancy labels. Our long experience allows us to better identify the origins and, in light manufacturing, procurement, which enables us to offer our customers products of good origins. |
